In 2022 we took our first steps in building a community in Stockholm to bring black & brown people together and develop meaningful connections through shared outdoor experiences. Our mission was to create a low entry point for third culture kids to participate in the outdoors and create a feeling of accessibility among them.

In April 2023 we were approached by Friluftsfrämjandet, Sweden's largest outdoor organization, to help them with their purpose going forward in intensifying their work with diversity and inclusion to more reflect the society in which they operate.

As an operating lab for outdoor activities within the marginalized communities we saw this as a first step to build knowledge and exchange experience with FF through shared activities during the summer.

What outdoor activities work for our target group? How can FF start addressing third culture kids? Because if we don´t address it today then the consequence of this separation between TCKs and nature are many (nature-deficit disorder): there is a generation of adults and young people that don´t enjoy the hundreds of parks, hiking trails, and camping sites around Sweden. Our work has just begun to lead a way for improved mental health, overall public health and an outdoor space that everyone has access to.
